Hong Kong Airlines has resumed its Hong Kong-Nagoya service, which will operate four times a week initially before going daily from August.
The airline flies its single-class Airbus A320 aircraft to Nagoya.
The service competes against Cathay Pacific’s daily Nagoya service with two-class A330-300 aircraft, including lie-flat seating in business class.
“Nagoya is a fascinating city, conveniently located near popular travel destinations in Central Japan (Chubu region). Its prime geographic location also offers easy connections to major cities in both the eastern and western regions, including Tokyo and Kansai. There’s always a reason to visit Nagoya.
We’re incredibly thankful to add this enchanting city to our expanding route network in Japan, and we plan to gradually increase service between Hong Kong and Nagoya from the current four times a week to daily flights starting in August. This will strengthen the connection between these two vibrant cities,” commented Hong Kong Airlines president, Jeff Sun.
From August, there will be three daily nonstop flights between Hong Kong and Nagoya’s Chubu International airport – Hong Kong Airlines, Cathay Pacific, and Cathay low-cost subsidiary HK Express will all fly once a day.
Hong Kong Airlines currently serves more than 20 destinations across the Asia-Pacific region. Its operations to Japan include the four weekly flights to Nagoya, three daily flights to Tokyo (Narita) and Osaka, two daily flights to Okinawa, one daily service to Fukuoka, and three weekly flights to Sapporo.
From mid-July, Hong Kong Airlines will offer 73 weekly flights between its homebase and Japan. This, the airline says, represents 97 per cent of its pre-pandemic capacity into Japan.
