To improve air connectivity of the Sangam city with the rest of the country before the Mahakumbh, the Yogi Adityanath government has decided to give the Prayagraj airport a major uplift.

The revamp of the Civil Enclave or popularly known as Prayagraj Airport is being done keeping in mind the convenience of tourists and devotees coming from other countries in the Mahakumbh to be held in Prayagraj in 2025.

According to Airport Director RR Pandey, the government plans to redevelop the airport at a cost of Rs 175 crores. The works have been initiated and the tender process will be completed next month.

The number of aerobridges, passenger boarding bridge which connects the aircraft doors to the airport terminal, will be added as the expansion of flight movement in the airport would increase, he said. Deputy general manager of Prayagraj airport Pramod Kumar Singh said at present the number of aerobridges is two and four more would be added before Mahakumbh. With this, the airport will become the first in Uttar Pradesh   with six aerobridges.
