Finnair has outlined schedule changes for summer 2024, with increased frequencies to several destinations in the UK and Ireland.
From April next year the carrier will offer 12 flights per week to Manchester, up from eight this summer, and seven weekly services to Edinburgh, up from five.
Meanwhile Dublin will benefit from both increased frequencies – up from the current seven weekly flights to ten next summer – and extra capacity due to an aircraft upgrade from the E190 to the larger A319.
The Helsinki-Heathrow route will see a total of 29 weekly flights for summer 2024.
Other notable changes to the carrier’s short-haul network next year include a new daily service to Wroclaw, the return of flights to Gdansk, and additional frequencies to Bergen, Billund, Stockholm, Tromso and Trondheim.
Further afield, Finnair’s routes to Osaka and Tokyo Narita will both gain two weekly flights next summer, bringing them to five and six weekly services respectively.
Commenting on the news Ole Orvér, Finnair’s chief commercial officer, said:
“We are delighted to introduce Wroclaw as a new destination. It is not only a welcome addition for business travellers but also an intriguing leisure destination for people looking for a city break in a picturesque setting.
“Our expanded frequencies to the UK and Ireland are also incredibly important to Finnair’s strategy and we know these will prove popular with customers looking to plan their long-awaited summer getaways across Finland, Europe and Asia.”
It’s not all good news though – as reported on our forum, the carrier is to cease its route between Helksinki and Mumbai at the end of July, less than a year after it relaunched.
Last month Finnair signed a lease agreement with fellow oneworld carrier Qantas, for two of its Airbus A330 aircraft, as the carrier seeks “to ensure the optimal use of its A330 fleet” which is currently limited in its deployment across Finnair’s own long-haul operations due to the closure of Russian airspace.
