Norse Atlantic Airways is celebrating one year of transatlantic flights this week.
The low-cost carrier operated its inaugural flight between Oslo and New York JFK on June 14, 2022, and over the last 12 months has flown nearly half a million passengers on 2,630 flights.
It hasn’t all been plain sailing – last winter the airline was forced to trim its transatlantic network following a financial statement in which it said the transatlantic market was “challenging”.
But Norse has returned to growth in recent months, with new routes to Orlando and Fort Lauderdale joining the carrier’s existing UK flights between Gatwick and New York JFK. (Note the Fort Lauderdale service has since switched to Miami International).
Flights to Washington DC launched at the start of June, with LA next up on June 30, San Francisco in July and Boston in September.
Norse has also announced plans to fly from Gatwick to Barbados, Kingston and Montego Bay this winter.
To celebrate the anniversary the airline is running a week-long fare promotion, with return flights from Gatwick to Boston starting from £275, New York from £295, Washington DC from £309, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Miami from £319, San Francisco from £335, Barbados from £349, LA from £365, and Montego Bay and Kingston from £419.
