Garuda Indonesia has announced a partnership with the Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Law of Indonesia to provide a new special immigration lane service for the airline’s premium passengers.
The special lane service will offer a faster immigration process for Garuda Indonesia’s first and business class passengers, and GarudaMiles Platinum members, both on departure and arrival.
The service is now available at Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta Terminal 3, the airport’s new international terminal, as well as the international terminal at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali.
To benefit from this service, Garuda says that eligible passengers will be provided with an identification card and its Special Assistance Team will greet and direct them to the special immigration inspection counters.
The premium airport services rolled out on March 30.
Passengers on Garuda flights to Hong Kong and Madinah were first that day to experience the airline’s latest initiative to improve its customer experience post-Covid.
“The presence of this special immigration line service is one of Garuda Indonesia’s ongoing initiatives as a national flag carrier to provide a seamless journey for Garuda Indonesia’s passengers,” said Irfan Setiaputra, chief executive of Garuda Indonesia.
“The signing of this collaboration can represent an essential step for the importance of a collaborative tourism ecosystem, in this case Garuda Indonesia and the Directorate General of Immigration to provide added value to aviation and airport services for domestic and international passengers,” said Silmy Karim, Director General of Immigration at the Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
SkyTeam member Garuda is currently rebuilding its fleet following a painful restructuring that saw the airline shed many aircraft.
Garuda has retained most of its long-haul Airbus A330 and Boeing 777-300ER aircraft to connect its Jakarta and Bali hubs with destinations in Australia, Northeast Asia and the Middle East. Flights to Europe, however, are still limited, with the carrier currently only operating twice weekly from Jakarta to Amsterdam on Thursday and Sunday.
