Hospitality group The Wesley opens its second London property this week, with the unveiling of a 38-room hotel within the Camden Methodist Church building.
The Wesley Camden Town is located on Plender Street close to Mornington Crescent and Camden Town Underground stations, and officially opens on December 30, 2022.
The Caterer reports that a £9 million investment has seen the chapel – which dates back to 1824 – converted into a four-floor hotel, while retaining a worship and community space for the church on the lower ground floor.
Rooms include 42-inch TVs, workdesk, safe, an open wardrobe and ensuite shower.
The Wesley Camden Town joins the group’s existing property in Euston, housed within the Methodist International Centre on Euston Street.
The 100-room hotel also features meeting space and The Wesley Bar and Kitchen.
The Caterer quotes James Barr, general manager of both The Wesley hotels as stating:
“We’re delighted to open the doors to The Wesley Camden Town, as London’s newest boutique hotel. The hotel will perfectly complement the vibrancy of the neighbourhood and builds on the ethical credentials established over the years at The Wesley London Euston.
“As a collaborative project with The Methodist Church, we’re so pleased to be able to safeguard the future of this wonderful listed building, whilst opening it up to UK and international visitors to London who will, as we say, ‘discover the beat’ of one of the capital’s most exciting locations.”
