Hotel and private members’ brand The Ned has opened its second property, housed with the Johnston Building in New York’s Manhattan.
The Ned NoMad (which has taken its name from The NoMad New York hotel which previously operated in the building) features 167 rooms over ten floors, with decor inspired by 1920s glamour.
Facilities include Manhattan’s first Cecconi venue for dishes including wood-fired pizza and lobster and spaghetti, the wood-panelled restaurant The Dining Room, and the first floor Ned’s Club which features a stage for live music.

Members also have access to venues including workspace The Library, and events space The Magic Room, which has been inspired by 1930s cabaret clubs.
The Little Ned is also set to open in late summer, offering “upscale bar fare from caviar and steak tartare to burgers and salads”.
The property’s art collection includes pieces by Laurie Simmons, Kambui Olujimi, Marilyn Minter, Zoe Buckman, Ilana Savdie, Rachel Jones, Issy Wood, Christopher Myers, Hank Willis Thomas, and Joseph Kosuth, and is themed around “what ‘a different century’ might have looked like had women, queer people and people of colour taken their rightful place in the cultural landscape”.
The Ned NoMad will join The Ned London as the brand’s second property. For our Tried and Tested review of the London hotel – published shortly after it opened in 2017, see:
A third, new-build property is also set to open in Doha in October, and a second New York property is under development in the city’s Financial District within the former American Stock Exchange Building, with an opening date scheduled for 2024.
