Low-cost European carrier Wizz Air will launch new routes connecting Dammam in Saudi Arabia to Rome and Vienna.
Also, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, the joint venture airline with Abu Dhabi’s ADQ, will add a new service connecting Dammam to the capital of the UAE.
The new routes between Saudi and Europe will begin in September this year, with tickets already on sale with one-way fares starting from €24.99.
From September 28, the Dammam-Rome route will operate every Wednesday and Sunday. Meanwhile, beginning September 30, the carrier will operate the Dammam-Vienna route every Monday and Friday.
Wizz Air Abu Dhabi will launch the Dammam-Abu Dhabi route on November 1 with four weekly flights every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
The announcement of the new flights follows Wizz Air’s decision to sign an MoU with the Ministry of Investment for Saudi Arabia to support the Saudi National Air Connectivity Programme (a Ministry of Tourism initiative) aimed at developing of the kingdom’s tourism sector.
Saudi’s Vision 2030 programme aims to triple passenger traffic in the kingdom by 2030.

The recently signed MoU demonstrates our commitment to supporting travelers to and from Saudi by bringing in a new era of air travel with our ultra-low fares, point-to-point network, and high quality onboard service,” said Robert Carey, president of Wizz Air.
Providing further connectivity to Europe from Saudi, the kingdom’s flag carrier Saudia recently confirmed that it will begin flying a second route to Switzerland in August, with twice-weekly direct flights from Riyadh to Zurich. Besides, it will also start operating twice-weekly direct flights from Jeddah to Barcelona in July.
