Norwegian start-up carrier Flyr has announced plans for its first UK route.
The airline launched flights in 2021, initially serving domestic destinations, and has confirmed it will fly between Edinburgh and Oslo from April 8.
The year-round service will operate up to thrice-weekly, using a B737-800 aircraft.
Flyr will join Norwegian and SAS on the Edinburgh-Oslo route.
The carrier is set to take delivery of the first of six B737 Max 8 aircraft this year, and has also announced new routes to Prague, Stockholm, Billund and Pisa for later this year.
Flyr’s website states:
“Flyr is a Norwegian airline that was created for travellers in Norway and built up with a size, organization, and route offering that is adapted to everyday life after the coronavirus pandemic.
“Everyone who works at Flyr is directly employed by the company, with Norwegian pay and working conditions. We now have more than 300 employees, many of whom have extensive experience from companies such as SAS, Norwegian, Widerøe, and Braathens.
“Flyr is led by Tonje Wikstrøm Frislid, the first female CEO in the aviation industry in the Nordics.”
The new follows confirmation from Loganair that it will restore flights between Aberdeen and Oslo from June.
