Singapore Airlines has reopened its Silverkris lounge at London Heathrow’s Terminal 2.

The carrier said that the move “follows a steady growth in the airline’s UK schedule and Singapore’s status on the UK’s ‘Green List’ for travel”.

Both the business and first class sections of the lounge have reopened, with the first class facility offering an a la carte meal service, and the business class section offering a new “hosted buffet”, replacing the self-service buffet.

Guests can request their dish selection from choices including Singapore laksa and carrot cake in first class, and chicken nasi lemak in business class, while pre-plated items including sandwiches, cakes and fruit are also available.

Soft drinks are offered on a self-service basis, with alcoholic drinks served by bartender. The carrier highlighted the addition of iced coffee in both business and first class.

Singapore Airlines recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of UK flights, and as part of this launched a special commemorative gin in partnership with with London-based distiller Hayman’s.

The new gin is available in the reopened Heathrow lounge, either as a G&T or in two special cocktails called ‘An English Garden’ and ‘Exotic Citrus Cooler’.

Business and first class customers have free access to the lounge, as do Star Alliance Gold customers, although SIA said that “Staff will continue to monitor numbers and social distancing remains within the seating arrangements”.

Both staff and customers are expected to wear face masks within the lounge, except when eating or drinking.

Singapore Airlines is currently serving London Heathrow with 18 weekly flights, as well as three weekly services to Manchester.

Commenting on the reopening Mr Mohamed Rafi Mar, general manager UK and Ireland, Singapore Airlines, said:

“We are delighted to re-open our London Heathrow SilverKris Lounge for both first and business class customers after such a long period of enforced closure.

“We have made adaptations to ensure everyone’s safety and are delighted to once again provide fliers with a calming space to relax in before their flight with us.”
