Virgin Hotels is set to open a hotel in Glasgow in 2022, the same year as its Edinburgh debut.

Virgin Hotels Glasgow will be located at 236-246 Clyde Street and will feature 242 rooms. Additional facilities will include areas for dining and drinks, including the brand’s flagship restaurant Commons Club, a Funny Library Coffee Shop, and a communal workspace which will serve Laughing Man coffee – the brand co-founded by actor Hugh Jackman. The hotel will also feature space for meetings and events.

Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin Group, commented:

“Glasgow is a dynamic city with a rich history that is extra special to me as my wife Joan is from Glasgow.

“Since launching the first property in 2015, Virgin Hotels has established a beloved brand amongst many, always ensuring that all offerings embrace and showcase the local community culture for all travelers to enjoy; and this property will surely do the same.”

James Bermingham, CEO of Virgin Hotels, added:

“Glasgow features distinctive art, music, shopping and much more – making it the perfect location for the newest hotel. Virgin Hotels Glasgow will have all the brand differentiators such as our innovative Chamber design, forward-thinking technology, food and beverage offerings and entertainment. We look forward to welcoming locals and visitors alike to enjoy our distinctive lifestyle experience.”

Virgin Hotels recently outlined plans for five hotel openings between now and 2023, including the latest property within the former Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Las Vegas. The group will also open a Virgin Hotels New Orleans this summer, followed by a New York City hotel in autumn, the brand’s UK debut in Edinburgh, and finally a Miami property in 2023.

The group opened its first property in Chicago in 2015, before adding hotels in San Francisco and Dallas in 2019, and Nashville last summer.
