Wharf Hotels is opening its latest Niccolo hotel, the Niccolo Suzhou, at the beginning of April

The hotel is in the The Suzhou IFS Tower designed by Kohn Pederson Fox, also architects of Roppongi Hills, Tokyo, Lotte World Tower, Seoul, Shanghai World Financial Centre and Hong Kong’s International Commerce Centre.

Shaped like a fish tail as a tribute to Suzhou’s rivers and canals, at night, the building is lit by glowing LEDs, and is clad in high performance glazing to mitigate solar heat gain. The architects say that “the building’s form and orientation, together with the articulation of the west-facing façade, diminishes much of the heat and glare, while bringing more natural daylight to the internal spaces”.

The tower has a mix of serviced apartments, office space and the hotel, which has 233 rooms including 20 suites. Rooms start on floor 103 and are 40-68m2 depending on category, while suites are 73m2-120m2.

Bars and restaurants include the Niccolo Kitchen, The Tea Lounge and Bar 115. The hotel lobby is on floor 115, with the meetings and events floor on 116 and the fitness centre on 117 with spa and swimming pool.

The tower is in the Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) and on the new Suzhou International Finance Square (IFS) with views over the city’s canals and Jinji lake and is walking distance to the International Convention and Exhibition Center.
