To further strengthen Odisha’s air connectivity, the state government led by Naveen Patnaik will offer financial support to Air Asia’s direct flight service between Bhubaneswar and Pune for a period of three months. The service is expected to start this month.

Air Asia Tweeted:

Apart from enhancing connectivity, the initiative will also give a boost to tourism and investor footfall, stated Chief Minister’s Office through its Twitter handle. The service will also prove beneficial for IT professionals and academicians who travel between the two regions frequently.

Expressing views on this, Usha Padhee, joint secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India said, “This is indeed an innovative model in which state nudges airlines to select desired routes to promote mobility, trade, and tourism. State’s support would allow airlines to explore new markets. Win-win for Aviation!”
