After almost seven months, Mumbai Metro is resuming its services, starting from today. Enhanced Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for travellers have been put in place which includes thermal screening on entry and social distancing.
To minimise the risk of Covid-19 infection, no plastic token will be issued. All passengers are encouraged to use digital tickets, smart cards or QR code-based tickets.
Only 200 services will be allowed to operate on the 11km long line (Ghatkopar-Andheri-Versova) between 0830 hours to 2030 hours daily. The frequency has been reduced to eight minutes as against five minutes. The temperature inside the coaches will be maintained between 25 to 27 degrees celsius.
Mumbai Metro tweeted, “The wait is finally over, Mumbai! Our services are restarting with safer, cleaner and more secure premises. We are ready to welcome all ‘metrokars’ back with the necessary safety measures on Monday, October, 19.”
