Finnair and Fiji Airways have agreed on a new codeshare partnership between the Finnish capital Helsinki and Fiji’s main transportation hub Nadi.
Finnair’s AY code will be added to Fiji Airways’ flights between Nadi and Hong Kong, Singapore, and Tokyo Narita. Its flight numbers will also be added later to Fiji Airways’ flights between Nadi and San Francisco and Los Angeles, which Finnair says is still subject to applicable government approvals.
With these additions, Finnair says it will now be possible for its customers to complete an around-the-world trip with Finnair flight numbers.
Meanwhile, Fiji Airways’ FJ code will also be added to Finnair’s flights to Helsinki from Singapore. This will grant Fiji Airways’ customers access to Finland and points beyond in Europe.

The new codeshare flights can now be booked on both airlines’ websites for travel from October 27 this year.
“We are excited about this cooperation with Fiji Airways and are delighted to offer this wonderful new destination in the South Pacific to our customers,” says Ole Orvér, chief commercial officer at Finnair.
“This cooperation is unique as it will allow Finnair customers to purchase around-the-world routings under Finnair’s code for the very first time, using a combination of gateways in Asia and on the US West Coast. We would also like to warmly welcome Fiji Airways’ customers to enjoy the wonders of Finland and the Nordics.”
Also commenting on the news, Andre Viljoen, managing director and CEO of Fiji Airways, says: “We welcome our fellow Oneworld partner Finnair in our family of codeshare partners.
“Through this partnership, we are adding the wonderful city of Helsinki to our network, making Fiji and the entire South Pacific more accessible for Finnair customers. We look forward to working with Finnair and introducing Finnair customers to Fiji, one of the world’s most welcoming and authentic cultures.”
In 2018, Fiji Airways joined Oneworld as the first member of the new scheme Oneworld Connect, which enables Oneworld to bring on board airlines that serve regions not fully covered by the alliance’s existing members, but that also don’t necessarily meet the conditions required for full membership.
Business Traveller Asia-Pacific previously reported that the Fijian flag carrier plans to fly its new A350 aircraft to Sydney and Los Angeles early next year.
Recently, Finnair has also announced a codeshare with South American carrier LATAM. From November 3 this year, the Finnish national airline will start offering a thrice-weekly service between Helsinki and the new Beijing Daxing International Airport.
