Indian airlines issue travel advisory ahead of Independence Day

Due to heavy security arrangements at airports ahead of Independence Day, Indian airlines have issued travel advisories asking passengers to reach minimum three hours in advance for domestic flights and minimum four hours prior to departure for international flights. The advisory comes after Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) asked all airports to tighten security following the Kashmir turmoil.

Indira Gandhi International Airport said in an official statement, “Attention Flyers: Due to enhanced security arrangements, flyers are requested to reach Delhi Airport minimum three hours in advance for all domestic flights and four hours in advance for all international flights.”

Likewise, airlines such as Indigo, Spicejet and Vistara have also advised passengers to keep a track of their flights and reach airport accordingly as they will have to undergo intensive security checks.

Vistara tweeted:

Indigo tweeted:

Spicejet tweeted:

All vehicles coming to the airports will have to go through extensive security check. A full pat-down search at pre-embarkation security check point, random checks at entry points to terminal and on-ground monitoring of aircraft are some enhanced security efforts undertaken at Indian airports currently.
