Air India has announced a slew of flights on its domestic and international network. From June 5, the flag carrier of India will start flights from Chennai to Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Kolkata. Additionally, four times weekly service on Chennai-Varanasi route will also be starting from June 6.
The airline is also focussing on strengthening its connectivity from Bhopal — new flights will be introduced between Pune and Bhopal, and frequency on the Delhi-Bhopal route will be increased from 14 flights per week to 20 flights per week. Number of flights will also be increased between Delhi and Bengaluru; and Delhi and Amritsar.
On the international front, Air India is all set to expand its services to Dubai, with a second daily service each from Mumbai and Delhi. This development comes at a time when there is a heavy industry shortage owing to the Jet Airways (temporary) shutdown. While almost all Indian airlines have asked for Jet Airways’ international slots, priority is being given to Air India in such matters.

June 1 onwards, Air India will add 3,500 seats per week between Mumbai and Dubai, and an additional 3,500 seats per week will be added on Delhi-Dubai route from June 2. The flight schedule can be found here.
The airline will be deploying B787 aircraft on these routes.
Meanwhile, Air India has issued a schedule change for its services to Chicago. From June 1 to June 30, the airline’s daily non-stop flight AI 127/AI 126 Delhi-Chicago-Delhi will operate as Delhi – Stockholm-Chicago-Delhi.
