UAE airlines offer iftar special meals onboard during Ramadan

Throughout the holy month of Ramadan, UAE airlines including Emirates and Etihad Airways are offering a variety of Ramadan special meal options for their passengers.

For business travellers flying on the Dubai-based Emirates, the airline has introduced specially crafted iftar meal boxes serving nutritional food across all cabin classes on select flights from May 5 onwards.

Emirates tweeted:

The special iftar meal boxes feature a healthy assortment of salads, sandwiches, and traditional sweets. Emirates’ First Class and Business Class passengers are served with an exclusive iftar box with a  choice of special ice cream flavours such as cinnamon baklava, dates and Arabic coffee, among others.

Additionally, dates and water will be provided for those breaking fast or taking suhoor. These services are also available at all seven Emirates lounges at Dubai International Airport.

Likewise, the Abu Dhabi-based airline Etihad Airways is serving some signature Ramadan snacks and drinks. Premium cabins will offer an iftar platter consisting of selection of hot appetisers and soup alongside premium dates and Ramadan beverages (juice and laban). Additionally, there is a takeaway Ramadan bag with laban, water and date box.

Economy cabin will provide a Date box and laban with meal tray or upon request (selected medium and ultra long haul flights) and a Ramadan bag service offered (ultra short and short haul) containing sweet and savoury items, as well as laban, water and dates.

The airline tweeted:

The Doha-based Qatar Airways and the low-cost airline flydubai are also expected to serve iftar meal boxes during flights. However, there is no official confirmation on this yet,

Meanwhile, Retail giant Carrefour UAE will be distributing over 45,000 Iftar parcels in the arrivals section at Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport. The parcels will consist of water, juice, dates and other light snacks.
