LOT Polish Airlines today began flights between London City Airport and the Lithuanian capital Vilnius.

The route will be operated by an Embraer 190 with economy, premium economy and business seats. Flights are twice-daily from Monday to Friday, with one flight per day on Saturday and Sunday due to London City’s operating restrictions.

Premium economy offers fast-track at check-in and boarding, premium meals and a greater luggage allowance. Business class passengers get an empty seat next to them, lounge access, porcelain plates, a hot meal, salad, dessert and alcohol options.

It is the third route launched by LOT from London City this year; daily flights to Budapest began in February, while daily flights to Warsaw began in January.

LOT has leased four new 106-seat Embraer 190s from Nordic Aviation Capital.

The Star Alliance member offers a variety of long-haul connections to Asia Pacific and the Americas.

LOT’s summer schedule from London City will run:

The airline also operates three daily flights between Heathrow and Warsaw Chopin.

On today’s route launch, Adrian Kubicki, Director of LOT Corporate Communications, commented: “We believe that many Lithuanian passengers will appreciate this service since this is the only connection from Vilnius to the heart of London, so close to business centre of UK’s capital as well as all tourist attractions.

“Also many London based passengers now have the most convenient connection to the capital of Lithuania. Our nearly double daily schedule is perfectly suited to the needs of customers travelling for business, but given the fact that many Lithuanians live in the eastern parts of London, this is a great connection also for the leisure passengers. We are very excited start operations on this route.”
