In an act of blatant defiance against every parent that has ever had to yell “don’t play ball games in doors”, Brisbane Airport is hosting a 20-over exhibition-style cricket match inside its international terminal building later this month.

The cricket match will be the first of its kind held within an airport terminal and is scheduled to take on November 22 in order to coincide with the start of the Indian Cricket Team’s Australia tour.

Former international players Brett Lee and Michael Kasprowicz will make guest appearances, captaining two teams comprising senior representatives from the Australia and India travel industries.

Speaking about the upcoming exhibition match, Brisbane Airport Corporation CEO, Gert-Jan de Graaf, said: “India and Australia share a love of family, travel and cricket, so we thought we’d take the opportunity to celebrate these shared values with a bit of fun, whilst also showcasing Brisbane as an aspirational travel destination offering a wide range of experiences for Indian visitors.”

Travellers who won’t be passing through Brisbane on November 22, however, can still catch the game on Lee’s Facebook page, which will feature a live stream of the match beginning at 16:00 (AEST).

India’s cricket tour of Australia begins on November 21 with a T20 match at Brisbane Cricket Ground.
