InterContinental Hotels & Resorts is to open InterContinental Shanghai Wonderland in China. The hospitality chain has collaborated with Shimao Group for this project which is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2018.
InterContinental Shanghai Wonderland is set up inside a formerly abandoned quarry in southwestern Shanghai.
The 18-storey hotel is spread across 61,000 sqm of space and has 16 floors below the ground level and two floors above. The luxury property features 336 rooms and suites, which open to an uninterrupted view of waterfalls from the surrounding cliffs.
Shanghai is famous for its skyscrapers but InterContinental Shanghai Wonderland takes an unconventional twist by extending space beneath the ground. intercontinental.com
