Marriott is the most well-regarded brand in the hotel business, according to the YouGov BrandIndex, which rated public impressions of 1,630 brands, including 50 US hotel companies.

Hotel Business reports that the rankings were based on six metrics: overall impression, quality, value, satisfaction, whether customers would recommend the brand to a friend or colleague, and whether the company would be one survey respondents would be proud to work for.

The Marriott brand had the top overall score, followed by Holiday Inn, Hilton, Holiday Inn Express, and Courtyard by Marriott.

Brands that experienced the best year-over-year improvement in their ranking scores included Motel 6, Econolodge, Super 8 Motels, Airbnb, and Days Inn.

“When consumers consider lodging options, Airbnb and other short-term apartment and house rental services are often part of the competitive set, so we group them together for a more holistic view of the category,” noted a spokesperson for YouGov.

A previous YouGov report found that Marriott and Holiday Inn were tied as the favorite hotel brands in the US, followed by Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, Hilton, and Holiday Inn Express.
