Following the emergency, many Indian airlines cancelled and diverted Dubai-bound flights.

While IndiGo cancelled 11 flights to Dubai from various Indian destinations, Jet Airways cancelled two, one from Mumbai and the other from Delhi.

SpiceJet on the other hand diverted its flights. The airline said in a statement, “Our flights to Dubai have been diverted to the following airports — Al Maktoum International Airport, Ras Al Khaimah International Airport and Sharjah International Airport. We are arranging alternate mode of travel from these airports so that our passengers can reach Dubai city.”

National carrier Air India also diverted nine of its Dubai-bound flights to Sharjah International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport.

Civil Aviation minister, P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju announced a helpline in India by Emirates following the incident.

Emirates has also announced its flight delays and cancellations:

An official statement by the airline said, “Due to this incident, Dubai International Airport was closed for about six hours on August 3 and a number of flights were cancelled, delayed or diverted. Dubai International Airport gradually started to resume operations at approximately 1830hrs local time last night.

Emirates cancelled 27 flights yesterday, and there were delays and rescheduled flights across the network. 23 flights were diverted to alternative airports – Sharjah, Al Maktoum International, Fujairah, Al Ain, Muscat and Bahrain. In total, over 23,000 Emirates passengers were impacted by the disruption.  We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused to our affected passengers, and ask for their continued understanding and patience as our teams work to restore operations back to normal.”;
