The Emirates Group has opened a new Innovation Majlis at its headquarters in Dubai.

The space will be used to showcase the latest in robotics, hyper-reality, holograms, 3D printers and other advanced technologies.

Emirates said that it will also serve as a social space to co-create proof-of-concepts.

In its initial phase, the majlis will include an autonomous mobile manipulator developed by Dubai Future Labs for order deliveries as well as picking and placing objects from shelves, bins and table-tops.

It will also offer AI-enabled wearable glasses for AR experiences. Haptic gloves will allow for natural XR interactions that enables touch interaction in virtual reality to feel the weight, vibrations and resistance of virtual objects.

A 3D holographic display with generative AI will allow visitors to the majlis a way to interact with digital signage by providing advanced conversational capability through natural language processing.

It will also showcase automatic wireless charging technology that charges devices autonomously from a distance using infrared technology. Meanwhile, 3D printing solutions will explore next generation printers that can handle a greater range of materials to provide an additive manufacturing capabilities. Also on display will be optimised videoconferencing solutions with an all-in-one device providing advanced sensor and environment optimisation technology for video communications. A next-generation water filtration system will rely on reverse osmosis and carbon filtration purification system that turns any tap water into mineralised water.

The majlis will be used as a space for the group to strike partnerships with industry leaders and universities, undertake sustainable initiatives, and explore alternate energies too.

Emirates recently launched Sara, the world’s first ever check in robot assistant, and also hosted the first edition of ForsaTEK, an annual event that brings together start-up programmes and high-profile tech and industry partners. The Emirates Group and Dubai Future Foundation also signed a partnership to launch the Emirates Centre of Excellence for Aviation Robotics (ECEAR).
