Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group is now offering members of its Club Carlson loyalty programme the option of spending Gold Points in order to redeem a one-year Priority Pass Standard Plus membership.

Along with offering access to Priority Pass’s 1,000 airport lounges worldwide, the one-year membership also grants 10 complimentary lounge visits, with a discounted rate of US$27 offered for all subsequent lounge visits.

Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group’s global rewards programme, Club Carlson, has launched a triple point redemption offer available until June 30.

Guests will earn 60 Gold Points (GP) per US dollar spent, rather than the usual 20 GP per dollar.

In addition, guests can also earn a bonus award of 5,000 points for each eligible Sunday and Monday night stay (or Saturday and Sunday night stay for Middle East properties).

A maximum of 100,000 bonus points can be earned during the promotional period.

Radisson Blu opens in Bengaluru

Radisson Blu Atria opened this month in Karnataka’s capital, Bengaluru. The launch is part of Carlson Rezidor’s ongoing India expansion plan to open 170 properties by 2020.

The hotel is a 14-minute drive from Jammu Airport, six minutes from Jammu Tawi Railway Station, and is within proximity to the corporate hub — Bahu Plaza, and industrial estates — Bari Brahmana, Gangyal and Samba.

The Element Hotels brand will be making its Southeast Asia debut when the Element Kuala Lumpur opens on April 9, 2017 in the 275-metre Ilham Baru Tower. Nearly half of the guestrooms in the property will be suites (120 out of a total 252 rooms), with small kitchenettes being a key feature of many of the eco-themed hotel’s accommodations. Four Seasons Kuala Lumpur

Four Seasons’ new 209-room property in the Malaysian capital is scheduled for an early 2018 opening and will make up part of a 65-storey mixed-use tower that will offer a total of 242 Four Seasons-branded residences and 27 serviced apartments. A five-floor 27,900-sqm luxury shopping complex known as the Four Seasons Place Kuala Lumpur will also occupy the tower.

CitizenM Kuala Lumpur

Set to open in the second quarter of 2018, Artyzen Hospitality Group’s third CitizenM hotel in Asia will be its smallest in the region with 198 rooms – upcoming properties in Taipei and Shanghai will have 267 and 303 rooms, respectively. Announced last week, the Bukit Bintang district CitizenM Kuala Lumpur has been confirmed to feature a 24-hour CanteenM eatery, though other facilities have yet to be announced.

Accorhotels’ new So Sofitel offering in the Malaysian capital actually comprises two properties – the So Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Hotel and the So Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Residences. Both are scheduled to open their doors in 2020 and, like many of the city’s new hotels, are situated a short distance from the Petronas Twin Towers and the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. The hotel will offer 207 guestrooms while the serviced residences will include 590 units. Each features a spa, fitness centre and event spaces, among other facilities, while guests at the residences will be able to make use of the rooftop sky garden foyer for barbecues.

In addition to these properties, Accorhotels is also set to open its Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara on June 1, 2017, located about one hour from Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Larger than the So Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Hotel, the Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara will include some 312 rooms.

Crowne Plaza Kuala Lumpur City Centre

Intercontinental Hotel Group’s (IHG) Crowne Plaza Kuala Lumpur City Centre is currently scheduled for a 2021 opening with a specific focus on business travellers. This is evident in the hotel’s central business district location on Jalan Yap Kwan Seng road, walking distance from the Kuala Lumpur City Centre and Petronas Twin Towers, and its business centre and seven meeting spaces. A total of 338 rooms, an all-day dining restaurant, numerous specialty restaurants and a Sky Bar round will be available, along with leisure facilities such as an outdoor swimming pool and fitness centre.

Announced back in October 2016, the Radisson Red Kuala Lumpur City Centre will stand about 800 metres from the Petronas Twin Towers when it opens in 2022, marking the brand’s debut in Malaysia. While the upscale lifestyle hotel brand focuses particularly on design, art and fashion, its business facilities are also a key component and the Radisson Red Kuala Lumpur will offer 166 rooms across 27 floors along with meetings and events spaces with views of the twin towers. Radisson Blu opens new Faridabad hotel

Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has opened a new property in the Indian city of Faridabad, one of the country’s key business and industrial centres in the National Capital Region.

Described by the group as “the city’s first upper-upscale hotel”, the Radisson Blu Faridabad has 124 rooms, four F&B outlets and meeting facilities, including a pillarless grand ballroom capable of accommodating up to 1,000 guests. The property’s dining options include: all-day dining restaurant Broadway; pan-Asian restaurant House of Soy, offering Chinese, Japanese and Thai cuisine; The Cove, a contemporary bar with retro music; and patisserie shop Tea Studio on the lobby lounge.

“We are confident the hotel will have a strong appeal to business and leisure travellers, and redefine expectations,” said the group’s CEO, South Asia, Raj Rana. “We welcome this stylish addition to our growing portfolio of 140 hotels in operation and development.”

Carlson Rezidor’s Radisson Blu brand has been expanding recently, particularly in India. In December, Radisson Blu opened its first property in Coimbatore – described as “the Manchester of South India”, while in August the brand opened the Radisson Blu Resort and Spa in Karjat. Elsewhere in Asia, the group opened the Radisson Blu Resort Hua Hin in Thailand in November.

Along with being home to numerous industries and businesses, Faridabad also attracts leisure travellers, with sites such as Badhkal Lake and Raja Nahar Singh Palace being popular attractions among visitors.

Radisson Blu opens new Coimbatore property

Radisson Blu has opened its first property in Tamil Nadu’s second-largest city, Coimbatore, which has been called the “Manchester of South India” owing to its industrial activity, textile mills and nearby cotton fields.

Situated approximately seven kilometres from Coimbatore International Airport and railway station Coimbatore Junction, the new Radisson Blu features a total of 135 rooms and suites. Owing to its industrial surrounds, the property has set itself up to cater to business travellers and corporate groups in particular, offering a 873-sqm banquet hall with a separate pre-function area and lawn.

A total of three F&B options are available at the new Radisson Blu. Radisson Blu opens new resort in Hua Hin

Carlson Rezidor has opened the doors of its new Radisson Blu Resort Hua Hin property in Thailand, located approximately two hours’ drive from the capital Bangkok and featuring a total of 118 rooms and suites.

The beachfront hotel overlooks the Gulf of Thailand in the resort town of Hua Hin, which has long functioned as a getaway for Bangkok residents. “Hua Hin has long been favoured by Thai royalty as a preferred summer retreat,” said the hotel’s general manager, Preet Inder Singh. “With its laidback but sophisticated feel, the resort offers a holistic getaway from the bustling capital city of Bangkok, satisfying the needs of the discerning traveller while offering a connection to the local community,”

This focus on relaxation is evident in the hotel’s room set-up – 22 of the hotel’s 118 guestrooms are Deluxe Pool rooms, offering guests direct access to the water from their private accommodation. Meanwhile, many of the hotel’s rooms have views of the gulf.

In total, the new Radisson Blu has three swimming pools along with offering sea-based water sports. Additional recreational activities, including golf, vineyard tours and the property’s Spa Esc, are also available, and beachfront dining can be enjoyed at The Ivy grill and pool bar. The Exchange, meanwhile, offers international cuisine and features organic Thai dishes using herbs and spices from the resort’s on-site garden. Guests can also dine at the Lounge, which offers a selection of premium wines, beers and an extensive whisky selection.

Corporate groups can also make use of the property’s four function spaces, including the 200-sqm Aqua Ballroom, which can cater to up to 240 guests in a cocktail setting. “The resort appeals to Thai and international guests arriving from Bangkok, as well as those booking a vacation or special event from further afield,” added Singh.

The opening of the resort is the latest in a string of new hotel announcements and openings from Radisson Blu in recent months, including the recently refurbished Radisson Blu Lyon and the opening of the brand’s 29th property in India, the Radisson Blu Resort and Spa Karjat.

China gets its first Park Inn by Radisson hotel

Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has opened its first Park Inn by Radisson property in China in the country’s south-western Guizhou province. The Park Inn by Radisson Libo, located approximately three hours’ drive from the province’s capital Guiyang, is about 40 minutes from Libo Airport and a half hour from downtown Libo.

The hotel is situated by the east entrance of the Xiaoqikong National Park and makes use of its surrounds by offering views of the nearby Zhangjiang River from its 182 rooms. Meanwhile, Libo’s heritage and various minority cultures, including Buyi, Miao, Shui and Yao nationalities, are showcased in its all-day dining Ly Café, which offers local cuisines as well as international fare. In addition to its dining facilities, the hotel also has a 181-sqm ballroom and four function rooms.

Radisson Red to make Malaysia debut in Kuala Lumpur

Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group announced yesterday that its upscale lifestyle brand, Radisson Red, will be making its Malaysia debut with the upcoming Radisson Red Kuala Lumpur City Center. The signing of the property was announced at the Hotel Investment Conference Asia Pacific (HICAP), though an expected opening date has not yet been confirmed.

Located about 800 metres from the Malaysian capital’s Petronas Twin Towers and close to shopping complexes and commercial offices, the new hotel will feature 166 rooms across 27 floors. Facilities will include F&B outlet Ouibar, meeting and events spaces with views of the twin towers, as well as a rooftop swimming pool and gym.

Aimed at millennial travellers, Radisson Red is Carlson Rezidor’s upscale lifestyle brand with an emphasis on design, art, music and fashion. The new hotel will be situated in Kuala Lumpur’s “Golden Triangle”, a still relatively under-developed area in the heart of the city.
