Singapore Airlines has firmed up an order for five more Airbus A380 superjumbos, adding to the 19 the carrier currently operates.
SIA was the launch customer for the double decker Airbus aircraft in 2007, and with this latest order is now the second largest A380 customer after Emirates.
The deal for five additional superjumbos was first made in October last year, but has been confirmed by Airbus today (January 14), along with the firming up of an order for 20 Airbus A350-900s, adding to the 20 already on order.
It’s not yet clear when the additional A380 aircraft will be delivered to SIA, or which of the carrier’s two superjumbo configurations will be used.
Nine airlines have so far taken delivery of the A380, with BA set to receive the first of its 12 superjumbos later this year.
