Budget hotel group Premier Inn is to open a hotel close to Stratford International station and the Olympic Stadium, due to open before the 2012 Games.

Premier Inn says the 267-room new-build property will be the closest hotel to Stratford International, which opened in December and is due to start operating Eurostar services once the extension of the Docklands Light Railway has been completed.

The hotel is one of 13 Premier Inn projects announced for London since the start of 2009, with others including a 251-room property in Old Street, a 247-room hotel in Waterloo and a 400-room property at Heathrow Terminal 5.

The £25m Stratford hotel will form part of the Westfield Stratford City development, a 1.9 million square-foot retail park which will be the gateway to the Olympic Park and the largest urban shopping centre in Europe when it is completed
