Intercontinental Hotels Group will open a Crowne Plaza hotel in Lyon in early 2014, it has been announced.
The 164-room Crowne Plaza Lyon - Cite Internationale is located on the banks of the Rhone within the business district of the same name.
An existing hotel, the property will undergo rebranding under a franchise agreement with Societe des Cinq Soeurs Pochettino (SCSP) before opening in the first quarter of next year.
Once under the IHG umbrella, it will feature a full-service restaurant and bar.
Brice Marguet, IHG'd director of development, France and North Africa, said: "Crowne Plaza Lyon - Cite Internationale is a significant signing for us in France. Lyon is a key city in France and an important European business hub."
The global portfolio of the Crowne Plaza brand has doubled since 2003 to nearly 400 hotels, with a further 97 due to open in the next three to five years.
