Heathrow launches food festival

Heathrow airport is running a three week-long international food festival, with attractions including a Bollywood violinist in Gordon Ramsay Plane Food at T5, and global coffee taste testings at Starbucks outlets.

Dubbed Destination Feastival, the event runs from October 17 to November 6, with nearly 60 restaurants, bars and cafes taking part.

In Terminal 1 Giraffe restaurant is offering customers a special World Tasting Platter, while in T3 Rhubarb is serving an Indian Tasting Plate including tandoori chicken kebab, lamb samosa and spinach pakoras, with a cucumber raita and wholemeal roti.

In Terminal 5 Gordon Ramsay Plane Food has created a special chicken curry combining flavours from India and Cuba, along with a Cuban strawberry and chilli mojito (pictured below). The restaurant will also be the location for performances by a Bollywood violinist during the festival.

Other attractions include performances by a soul orchestra in British-themed restaurant Dining Street in Terminal 4, global coffee tasting sessions in Starbucks outlets in T3, 4 and 5, and Japanese-inspired breakfast bento boxes at Yo! Sushi in T3.

Duty Free shops are also taking part in the festival, with WHSmith bookshops promoting cookbooks to inspire passengers to recreate global flavours at home.
