Continental to fly Heathrow-New York and Houston

16 Nov 2007 by Mark Caswell

Continental Airlines is to launch twice-daily flights from Heathrow to both New York Newark and Houston, starting March 30 next year.

The new routes have been made possible by the recent Open Skies agreement, and means Continental will serve the US cities from both Heathrow and Gatwick, as the carrier already flies twice-daily from Gatwick to New York and daily to Houston.

The flights from Heathrow will be plied by Boeing 777-200s configured for 48 in BusinessFirst and 235 in economy, and 767-200ERs with 25 in BusinessFirst and 149 in economy. The tables below show the new flight times, along with existing routes from Gatwick.

The news follows United Airlines’ announcement that it will fly non-stop from Heathrow to Denver from the end of March 2008 (see online news November 7), with more Heathrow transatlantic services likely to be announced by carriers in the near future – watch this space for further updates.
