British Airways unveils Newark lounge and B767 refresh

5 Apr 2012 by BusinessTraveller
British Airways has opened a new lounge at New York Newark airport, measuring twice the size of its previous facility. The new “Galleries-style” lounge is located next to gates B50-58, from where BA now operate flights, and has views over the airport. The facility features seating for 177 guests, with private dining booths for First travellers, and self-service dining for Club World customers. The lounge includes two Silver Bars and a deli, washrooms with showers, and work and entertainment zones with TVs, newspapers, magazines and free wifi. Meanwhile BA has also started to refresh 14 of its 21 B767 aircraft, with the first refurbished aircraft now operating on the London-Newark route. Features include “refurbished sidewalls, bulkheads and toilets, new carpets and curtains, as well as recessed ceilings with larger overhead lockers allowing extra luggage space and new lighting throughout”. Club World seats have also been re-covered to feature the same herringbone covers as on the carrier’s all-business class Club World London City service, while World Traveller and World Traveller Plus seats have the same design as those on BA’s new B777-300ER aircraft (for more information click here). Business Traveller will be attending a BA press trip in April to experience the new lounge and refurbished seating, and will report further on this site following the trip.
