British Airways is to start a twice-weekly service between London Gatwick and Cancun from this November, the only direct route between the two cities by a scheduled airline.

BA already serves Mexico City from London Heathrow using Boeing 747 aircraft, and will now ply the Gatwick-Cancun route using a three-class using a B777.

The 11-hour flight commences on November 3, departing Gatwick at 1245 and landing in Cancun at 1745, with the return leg leaving Mexico at 1915, landing back in London at 1015 the next day.

Flights are now on sale, with economy fares starting from around £630. BA is also offering inclusive holiday prices such as flights and seven nights accommodation only from £749 per person at the three-star Holiday Inn Arenas.

BA also offfers indirect services from London Heathrow to Cancun, connecting in Miami or Dallas onto American Airlines flights.
