Air France serves dishes by Joel Robuchon

For the next six months famed chef Joel Robuchon will serve as the first ambassador for Air France, as the carrier looks to bring French gastronomy to its long-haul business (Affaires) class passengers.

Robuchon will look to bring some of his signature dishes to business class passengers, such as: “Basque shrimp and turmeric-scented pasta with lemon grass,” “Chicken breast in green curry sauce, poppy seed rice, carrots and shiitake mushrooms” and “Crayfish pasta with Nantua sauce.” The menu will change every ten days under Robuchon’s expert guidance.

The decorated chef holds over 25 Michelin stars and is in charge of more than 20 establishments worldwide, including the double Michelin starred converted town house restaurant L’Atelier in London’s Covent Garden, as well as restaurants in Hong Kong, Paris, New York and Tokyo.

This move comes a year after the carrier completed installation of new seats in business class on board its long-haul fleet (see online news September 21, 2010). Sister airline KLM has also recently placed a strong emphasis on onboard dining with its a-la-carte dining options for economy passengers (see online news July 29).

Who cares about posh food? I'd rather have an airbridge instead of a bus transfer to the aircraft, separate security lines for First passengers with polite security people, and a nice-looking small friendly airport rather than the endless concrete jungle that is CDG.
