Club Carlson-branded credit card coming next year

2 Dec 2011 by BusinessTraveller

Hubert Joly, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Rezidor Hotels and President, CEO and Director of Carlson has confirmed that the company will launch credit cards for its Club Carlson loyalty programme in 2012.

Launched earlier this year as a replacement for the Goldpoints Plus scheme (click here for more information), Joly said the loyalty programme whose hotel brands includes Radisson Blu, Park Inn, Park Plaza and Radisson Edwardian was experiencing rapid growth.

“We had five million members at the end of 2009 [ in the previous programmes]. We are probably at 7.5 million members now at the end of 2011. We have set the goal of 10 million members by 2013 and ... there are separate programmes for SMEs and we are the only one with a programme for travel agents and we are working with the meetings market as well.”

Joly said the new affinity card will have a global roll out.

“We will start with the US and there may be an announcement soon and then we will go to Europe.”
