IHG has opened the Holiday Inn Manchester City Centre, a 298-room hotel in the Piccadilly area (see news, February 2016)
The hotel features Holiday Inn’s new ‘Open Lobby’ concept which combines the reception, restaurant, lounge, bar, business centre and To Go Café along with free wifi. Design touches include a large neon sign featuring the famous quote from Manchester music impresario Tony Wilson; ‘This is Manchester, we do things differently here’, while other art includes song lyrics from famous Manchester bands and full size city maps.
The hotel’s 298 rooms are air-conditioned with 40-inch LCD Smart HD televisions and built-in USB ports located on the wall sockets at both desk level and by the beds.
The hotel has 12 meeting rooms named after local music heroes as well as world famous night club ‘The Hacienda’and a terrace area overlooking the canal.
Local dishes such as Lancashire Hot Pot and Bury Black Pudding, along with Manchester Tart and Eccles Cakes. Specially created cocktails include ‘Our Kid’, ‘This Charming Man’ and ‘Twisting My Melon’, all expressions synonymous with the city.
