BA to launch LCY flights to Faro and Malaga

7 Dec 2010 by BusinessTraveller

BA’s Cityflyer subsidiary is set to grow its network out of London City next summer, with new routes to Malaga and Faro, plus increased frequencies to Amsterdam, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The new destinations, which are in addition to previously announced routes to Chambery (see online news August 17) and Stockholm (see online news October 19), have been made possible by BA Cityflyer taking up options on two further Embraer aircraft, adding to its existing fleet of 11 Embraer 170 and 190s.

Both the Malaga and Faro flights will commence on June 7, with the Spanish city benefitting from four times-weekly flights, and Faro gaining a three times-weekly service.

In addition the carrier is increasing the frequency on its LCY-Amsterdam service to six daily flights from May 2, with Glasgow and Edinburgh increasing to five and eight daily services respectively from June 7. Summer services to Palma and Ibiza will also recommence at the end of March 2011.
