British Airways is continuing its expansion at London City airport, with the launch of a winter ski route to Chambery in the French Alps.

The new four-times weekly route, which will run from December 18 until the end of March 2011, follows BA’s recent launch of services to Copenhagen from London City (see online news July 28).

While the Chambery route may not be of direct interest to business travellers, it shows BA’s continued expansion of its Cityflyer services from London City airport, made by possible by the delivery of new Embraer 170 and 190 aircraft over the last 12 months. For more information on the carrier’s new Embraer fleet, click here.

Tickets for the LCY-Chambery route are now on sale, and start from £59 one way, including taxes and charges.

Regional carrier Flybe also offers winter services from Exeter, Southampton and Birmingham to Chambery, as does Jet2 from East Midlands, Edinburgh, Leeds Bradford, Manchester and Newcastle.
