Following the successful launch of its direct flights to the southern Indian city of Trichy last year, AirAsia has started its daily air services to Kolkata, Kochi and Trivandrum from Kuala Lumpur.
According to Kathleen Tan, AirAsia's regional head of commercial, the addition of Kolkata to the airline's Indian nework provides a direct connection between the East Indian State of West Bengal and Malaysia. (Both Kochi and Trivandrum are located in the South Indian State of Kerala.)
"AirAsia is unlocking the potential of international air travel from Kuala Lumpur to eastern India and its surrounding states. We are thrilled to be serving Kolkata direct, a huge market that no other airline is serving direct," Tan said. All of the airline's flights to India are being serviced by a brand new fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft.
