Emirates to add A380 service to Milan

7 Oct 2014 by GrahamSmith

Emirates will operate an A380 to Milan from December 1.

The Gulf carrier will upgrade one of its three daily B777-300 flights to a superjumbo service, an increase in capacity of almost 38 per cent.

The triple daily service between Dubai and Milan is currently operated using B777-300 and B777-300ER aircraft. One of these flights continues onward to New York.

Emirates said its A380 will be the first permanently scheduled superjumbo service to Milan Malpensa.

The A380 will operate daily as EK91, departing Dubai at 1540 and arriving at Milan at 1935 local time. Return flight EK92 will take-off from Milan at 2120 and land in Dubai at 0625 local time the next day.

Thierry Antinori, Emirates' executive vice president and CCO, said: "Introducing the Emirates flagship A380 service underscores our commitment to further developing the economic and tourism potential of Italy's regions and cities.

"We continue to support the Lombardy region as well as the Italian economy primarily by bringing in tourists and business travellers from both mature and emerging markets in the Middle East, Africa and Asia."

Emirates yesterday operated a one-off A380 service to Manila (see news, October 1).
