Hilton Worldwide is to open a Doubletree property in Hull next year, as the city prepares to be UK City of Culture in 2017.

The 165-room Doubletree by Hilton Hull will feature a branded destination restaurant and bar, and a 1,000 sqm pillarless ballroom.

The new-build hotel will be located on the city’s Ferensway, on the site of a former nightclub, and will be managed by Leaf Hospitality, which already manages the Doubletree by Hilton Lincoln, and will manage the Hampton by Hilton Humberside airport when it opens in early 2017.

Commenting on the news Richard Farrar, founder of Leaf Hospitality said:

“There’s a real buzz about Hull and a shortage of premium hotels in the city centre but the market is robust and continuing to develop.

“Now more than ever, the spotlight is on the city to accommodate a rise in business visits and a steady growth in leisure tourism anticipated as a result of Hull’s City of Culture status next year and we’re confident of its long term sustainability as a vibrant leisure and business destination.”

Hilton’s Doubletree brand currently has around 30 properties in its UK portfolio, including the recently rebranded Doubletree by Hilton London Excel, and the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel and Spa Liverpool, within the restored Municipal Annexe building.
