Background Centrally located along Singapore’s Marina Bay, this luxury hotel continues to be distinguished by unparalleled hospitality synonymous with The Ritz-Carlton brand. Exciting local attractions such as Gardens by the Bay, the Art Science Museum, the Integrated Resorts, and the Singapore Flyer are only minutes away, while over 2,000 shopping and dining options are accessible via a covered sky bridge.
Where is it? The 32-storey hotel is a seven-acre garden oasis strategically located in the heart of Marina Bay, Singapore’s new downtown core, offering a mix of commercial, retail, entertainment, and recreational facilities.
What’s it like? When I entered the lobby of The Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore, I was delighted with the grandeur of the décor and the professionalism of the staff who made the check-in process seamless. I was enveloped in tranquillity and luxury while I waited for the formalities to be completed which happened very quickly.
Rooms The hotel has 608 guest rooms, including 18 one-bedroom Millenia Suites, three two-bedroom Millenia Suites and one Ritz Suite. All guest rooms and bathrooms offer views of either Marina Bay or the Singapore Sports Hub and Kallang River precinct. I stayed in the Premier Suite which was 72 sqm in size and overlooked the magnificent bay.
Food and Drink I always enjoy breakfasts when I travel and the breakfast buffet at Colony was one of the best I have eaten. I started my day with fried eggs with salmon, freshly squeezed orange juice and a cup of cappuccino. The hotel also has a One Michelin-star restaurant called Summer Pavilion which offers an intimate and sophisticated Cantonese dining experience. Republic – No. 12 is on Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2022. Due to paucity of time, I was unable to enjoy a relaxing evening at both these dining spaces but the next time I visit, I will surely make it a point to go there.
Meetings The pillar-less and light-filled Grand Ballroom is 1,090 sq metres with three state-of-the-art panoramic LED video walls, intelligent lighting, and a concert-quality sound system. There is also a private VIP entrance and two pre-function areas. The Junior Ballroom offers a meeting space with natural daylight and is divisible into two smaller rooms. The Commonwealth on level two boasts eight meeting venues, in addition to show kitchens, a Boardroom and even a Bar. 6 private dining rooms including the versatile Garden Suite in Summer Pavilion are ideal for social celebrations or business meetings.
Leisure The hotel’s landmark waterfront site is within walking distance of the Singapore Flyer, Integrated Resort, Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre (Suntec City) and the Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay.
Verdict: I enjoyed a brief albeit luxurious stay at the Ritz-Carlton Millenia, Singapore. It is an ideal location for business travellers and discerning travellers who come on vacation with their families. Staying here is truly an experience that one will not forget. I highly recommend it.
