Hotel Check: Four Seasons Hotel Macao, Cotai Strip Macau

31 Oct 2010

BACKGROUND Opened in August 2008 on the iconic Cotai Strip, the hotel is now currently being positioned as part of the upscale The Plaza Macao, which is comprised of the by-invitation-only Paiza Mansions, the Plaza Casino, The Shoppes at Four Seasons and an array award-winning restaurants and bars. The hotel primarily caters to corporate visitors on a business trip in Macau.

WHAT’S IT LIKE? The 20-storey hotel designed by architects at Steelman Partners with interiors by the renowned Hirsch Bedner Associates shows off the destination’s rich Macanese culture. Four centuries of Portuguese rule is evident in the ornate colonial architecture while the Chinese influences are present in the furniture, art and decorative textiles used in the public spaces and guestrooms. Coming in from the hustle and bustle of The Venetian, Four Seasons Macao offers a haven for visitors in need of peace and quiet.

WHERE IS IT? Just a few steps from The Venetian Macao, which connects to the property via the casino and the three-storey Shoppes at Four Seasons. The hotel has a separate main entrance, allowing guests to circumvent the gaming tables.

The Macau International Airport and the Macau Taipa Ferry Terminal are both only five minutes’ away by car. The Maritime Ferry Terminal, the main gateway between the territory and Hong Kong, is 15 minutes’ away. The hotel also offers a helicopter service.

Zi Yat Heen serves authentic Cantonese cuisine and a creative dim sum menu; Belcanção dishes out Portuguese and Macanese fare; and, the poolside Splash offers a selection of seasonal starters, salads, grilled fish and meats in a comfortable resort-like setting. The Windows Restaurant located at the hotel’s lobby has the leisurely atmosphere for enjoying a morning coffee, light lunch, afternoon tea or relaxing drink, while Bar Azul is a hip place for after-dinner drinks.
