Hong Kong Airlines will start operating a twice-weekly service between Hong Kong and Kuching on May 28.
Kuching, the capital of Sarawak in Malaysia, is currently underserved by international carriers. The new route will be the first non-stop link between the two cities.
Operating every Wednesday and Saturday, flight HX715 will depart Hong Kong at 0155 and arrive in Kuching at 0530. The return service will take off from Kuching at 0620 and touch back down in Hong Kong at 0955.
The early departure slots may put some travellers off, but arrival times do mean passengers will benefit from a full day at both destinations.
Hong Kong Airlines will deploy an A320 featuring a single-class configuration with 156 economy seats in a 3-3 layout.
