Dubai Airport’s Concourse D to open in late February

17 Feb 2016 by Clement Huang
Dubai International Airport has earmarked February 24 as the opening date of the new Concourse D. Having completed a public trial on February 6, the world’s largest international airport looks set to increase its overall capacity from 75 million to 90 million later this month, reported Gulf Business. Airlines due to operate from the new concourse are also preparing for a February launch; Lufthansa, for instance, has sent out invitations for the opening of its new senator and business class lounge on March 3 – a little over a week after the new facility launches. Concourse D will contain nine lounges that will cover more than 6,926 sqm of space. These include five airline lounges, a new Al Majlis lounge, two Dubai International Hotel lounges and a Marhaba VIP lounge. Retail outlets will occupy 7,000 sqm with luxury brands such as Burberry, Tiffany and Tory Birch available. There will also be several F&B choices, including a casual dining restaurant by celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck, the first Prèt a Manger in a Middle East airport, and a Caviar House & Prunier seafood bar. Once opened, Concourse D will begin serving international carriers that are currently operating out of Concourse C. Once the move has been completed, Concourse C will become exclusive to the airport’s home carrier Emirates. For more information, visit dubaiairport.com Clement Huang
