Intercontinental Hotels Group opens its 5,000th hotel

Intercontinental Hotels Group has unveiled its latest Hotel Indigo in New York, and the opening of its 5,000th hotel. The property has 293 rooms over 15 floors and is situated in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Reception is on the 14th floor with unobstructed city views via floor-to-ceiling windows spanning the entire space. The 15th floor features a 460m2 terrace with 360-degree views of Manhattan, as well as a swimming pool and rooftop bar and restaurant, Mr. Purple. IHG Hotel Indigo pool Commissioned artwork from renowned street artist Lee Quinones appears throughout the hotel, along with two pieces from filmmaker and artist, Mr. Brainwash. The hotel is a joint venture between IHG and Brack Capital Real Estate (BCRE) and is IHG’s third for the Hotel Indigo brand in New York City. The opening of the New York property takes IHG’s global portfolio to 5,000 hotels in nearly 100 countries. To mark the occasion, IHG has released details of several other recent landmark hotel openings around the world, including the Intercontinental London O2 and the Even, Times Square. IHG launched the Hotel Indigo brand in 2004.
