SIA premium economy rollout hit by installation delay

4 Sep 2015 by Clement Huang

Installation delays have put back the roll out of Singapore Airlines’ premium economy seating in some of its A380s, SIA has announced.

Though the new cabin product will not be available for some confirmed bookings, many of the affected routes are served by multiple A380s that have already been fitted with premium economy seating.

SIA said in a statement that it would provide alternative travel arrangements for affected premium economy passengers. This could be done by accommodating them on flights with the seating, subject to availability. However, some confirmed bookings will have to be downgraded to economy with the fare difference refunded.

At present, the official SIA website is not allowing premium economy bookings to be made.

In a statement, the national carrier of Singapore said: “Due to delays in the seat installation programme for premium economy class on our Airbus A380 fleet, premium economy will not be available for some confirmed bookings.”
