Hong Kong Airlines will launch its first flights to Australia in January 2016.
The route will operate as a triangular service from Hong Kong to the Gold Coast, continuing on to Cairns and back to Hong Kong.
The service will launch on January 8, with three-times weekly flights on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays using A330 aircraft configured for 260 economy seats and 32 business class seats.
The new service represents the longest route operated by Hong Kong Airlines since it dropped its all-business class flights to London Gatwick in 2012 (see news, August 2012), although the carrier does offer services to Madrid through its codeshare agreement with Etihad Airways (see news, June 15).
