Business-friendly ‘pods’ at PPL Heathrow T4

28 May 2015 by Clement Huang
Enclosed workstations for better privacy, complimentary connectivity and VIP facilities are available for £35 (US$54) at the new Plaza Premium Lounge in Heathrow Terminal 4. The pay-in facility is the third London lounge by Plaza Premium Lounge Management Ltd (PPL) and features the “productivity pods”, similar to those seen in its Hong Kong lounges, for guests looking to work. The enclosed workstations offer increased privacy, and each is fitted with a small table. Connectivity is readily available via complimentary wifi, and there are sockets for tablets, laptops and mobile phones, says PPL. Unlike the standard wifi offered at Heathrow, there is no time restriction on the length of the connections. To refresh and revive, there are four shower rooms that the company anticipates will be popular with long-haul travellers. For guests seeking further privacy, PPL offers a VIP area at the lounge, which has a separate entrance and features three private resting suites. A separate bar area is also available, which PPL says acts as the lounge’s social club. A black-and-white tiled kitchen area also features a live cooking station and buffet. “IATA predicts that air traffic passenger numbers will reach 7.3 billion by 2034, more than double the 3.3 billion in 2014 – and at Plaza Premium Lounge, we respond to and deliver the increasing demand from all travellers for improved services at airports,” said Song Hoi-see, founder and chief executive of PPL.
