9 Mar 2015 by Clement Huang

The Langham, Sydney has re-opened its doors following a redevelopment programme that spanned from August to December 2014.

“We are thrilled with the remarkable transformation of this hotel which is a magnificent addition to our group’s international portfolio,” says Sonia Lefevre, general manager of The Langham, Sydney.  “This hotel’s prime location in the heart of the Sydney Rocks district combined with The Langham’s renowned service will produce memorable stays for all our corporate and leisure guests.”

All 98 guestrooms and suites have undergone changes. From the Grand Langham room, which at 49sqm is the largest standard room in Sydney, to the two-bedroom Residence Suite (110sqm) and The Observatory Suite (122sqm), every room now features new design and quality finishes.

Upon entering the newly renovated hotel, guest will first notice a fresh new lobby space that is designed to complement the historical setting of The Rocks district. With ample natural light courtesy of the ceiling to floor glass entrance, the lobby leads through to a central reception desk made of gold leaf cracked porcelain, complete with grand views of the harbour.

Guests can also dine and socialise at Palm Court, which is now adorned with shades of teal and citrus gold. Renowned as the birthplace of the traditional Afternoon Tea experience, Palm Court offers pays homage to this popular tradition that was introduced at The Langham, London 150 years ago.

The other available dining outlet is Kent Street Kitchen by Chef de Cuisine Daniel Rudolph. Featuring a modern European-inspired menu and dining concept, Kent Street Kitchen delivers innovative cuisine using local produce to create a fine-dining experience. The 100-seat restaurant is highly distinct with its oak flooring, walnut and leather chairs, customised lighting, freestanding wine libraries and marble Chef’s Table.

Recreational facilities include the popular Day Spa that offers facials, massages and body treatments based upon traditional Chinese medicine principles, as well as skin care treatments from German beauty pioneers BABOR. There is also a fully equipped Health Club, Jacuzzi, steam room, and 20-metre indoor pool.

Finally, The Langham, Sydney is home to more than 400sqm of flexible event space, including the 241sqm Grand Ballroom, complete with natural light and large windows overlooking Kent Street. The residential Drawing Room connects directly to the Ballroom and features the original fireplace from the iconic Elizabeth Bay House. Additionally, there are also two breakout rooms – The Boardroom and The Parlour – both of which offer ground level harbour-side views.
