Lufthansa cancels hundreds of flights

1 Dec 2014 by Clement Huang

As a result of the strike called by Vereinigung Cockpit, the German pilot’s union, Lufthansa has announced the cancellation of over 100 flights during 1-2 December.

Notable cancellations within Asia-Pacific include services from the carrier’s base in Frankfurt to Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Beijing, Delhi, and Mumbai. The same holds true for return flights.

Although the strike is only expected to last for two days, the backlog of passengers affected by flight cancellations could lead to further delays. Passengers due to travel with Lufthansa over the next week are advised to check this link for up-to-date flight status information.

Lufthansa is also offering affected passengers the opportunity to rebook their flights free of charge. Customers who are unable to use the online self-service system should contact the airline’s Service Centre at 0800 850 60 70.

Meanwhile, callers outside of Germany should phone their local Lufthansa phone numbers. Long waiting times are expected due to the increased call volume that Lufthansa is facing.
